Hey there…I’m Frank and welcome to my site!
After years of working as an interior decorator, I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t like working with people who hire you for your expertise, just to ignore 90% of your guidance. You work hard to develop a plan just to negotiate every single decision with people who suddenly have everything to say about something they had no idea about prior to asking for help. What’s a guy to do? The Answer: start a blog.
So here’s what I’m thinking….
My favorite part of the decorating process is developing the design scheme and sourcing the items to bring my vision to life. As part of my process, I create inspiration boards. I love them because they give a snapshot of a fully realized design composition – the direction you want the room to go in, how things relate, and the feeling you want to imbue. It’s like a design selfie (I hate selfies).
Since this is my blog, and I have no clients to deal with, no compromises to make and no explanations to give…I’m just going to put together what makes me happy and let you see what I’ve done. That’s it.
Each blog entry will have something that has inspired the room in one way or another. Sometimes the correlations will be obvious, sometimes not. That’s how inspiration works. Regardless, I hope the end results get you fired up and going on your own projects. You’ll notice that I only include major pieces and a few accessories in my boards. My site is meant to act as a launching pad to help formulate the foundation of a room. Art and accessories, in my eyes, make each space individual and should really portray the personality of those living there….so I’m leaving that stuff to you. So pull out your ceramic cat collection, or favorite antique lace doilies, or that series of photos of things shaped like the letters of the alphabet…and let them tell the story of who you are.
If you like any of my boards and are interested in where I sourced the items, go to my purchase page and for the low, low price of $20, I’ll email you a list of links. A boy needs flea market money. And if you’re wondering if it’s worth it…think of it this way: it’s cheaper than hiring an interior decorator or sourcing the items yourself.
Otherwise, take from my site, whatever inspiration you need to make you happy. I’ll post as often as my time allows me to create, so make sure to subscribe so you’ll know when I’ve submitted another masterpiece. I do want to hear your comments, just don’t complain to me if you don’t like something, because I won’t respond to it. Go start your own blog. If you so happen to use one of my boards to create a room, send me a pic of your finished project…and if it turns out to be as awesome as I hope, I just may post it.
